Virtual Book Author Contract

Following is the Contract that Escape Press cosigns with our authors to allow us to publish their books. ALL copyrights and publishing rights are retained by the authors.

Authorization and Agreement
to Publish and Distribute
Copyrighted Materials

By affixing my signature below, I certify that I/we am/are the true and lawful holder of the copyright or copyrights, and I do hereby grant permission to Escape Press to publish, distribute, reprint, or excerpt the material titled ___________________________________ at a sales price of $______US both nationally and internationally.

Such authorization is granted only under condition that I/we receive royalties on the copyrighted portion of all book sales from said publication as the author of said specified material through the distribution of Escape Press.

Furthermore, I/we assume full liability for any lawsuits concerning libel, copyright infringements, or unspecified lawsuits arising from the published material content.

The permission to publish, distribute, reprint, or excerpt the copyrighted material by Escape Press does not restrict or reduce any rights the copyright holder currently owns such as other publishing rights, screen rights, electronic rights, movie rights, etc.

In consideration for the rights to publish, distribute, reprint, or excerpt this copyrighted material or materials Escape Press agrees to pay the owner or owners of the copyrights a total royalty of 50% of the agreed sales price listed above. The 50% royalty is applicable to the retail price of the copyrighted material only. If the copyright is owned by more than one individual, distribution of the copyright owners’ royalties will be the responsibility of the primary copyright holder. This contract does not alter the individual copyright holders’ royalty distribution or rights agreements nor is it covered under this contract.

Any additional charges for CD generation, shipping and handling or miscellaneous charges to the end customer are not included in this agreement.

Royalties will be paid to the Primary Copyright holder on a quarterly basis.

We further agree that any changes in sales price or bundling of works will be approved in advance by all parties in writing.

All changes to this contract must be made 30 days prior to the requested effective date of the change and agreed to in writing by the holders of the copyright and Escape Press.

Termination of this contract must be made in writing 30 days prior to the effective date by either a holder of the copyright or Escape Press. Termination of this contract by a holder of the copyright does not require the approval of any other holder of the copyright.

Reason or Just Cause for contract termination is not required by either party.
